8ª Estação | Jesus encontra mulheres de Jerusalém Fragilidade: Destruição da criação

No caminho, Senhor, cruzaste-Te com mulheres que choravam por Ti. “Não chorem por Mim – disseste-lhes – chorem por vocês e pelos vossos filhos”. Não querias lágrimas fáceis que não mudassem nada. Querias que pensassem em si mesmas e em que mundo iriam deixar para a geração seguinte, para o futuro.

Também nós nos interrogamos como será o nosso futuro neste planeta. Assistimos ao consumo descontrolado dos recursos da terra, à extinção de espécies, à devastação de florestas. Assistimos assustados às alterações climáticas e sentimo-nos muito inseguros em relação ao futuro. E tudo isto associado a estilos de vida desequilibrados que fazem com que alguns morram à fome enquanto outros fiquem doentes por comerem demais.

Senhor, ensina-nos a ter estilos de vida mais simples, mais solidários, mais conscientes das consequências, mais próximos do essencial. Mais parecidos contigo.

8th Station | Jesus meets the women of Jerusalem Fragility: Destruction of creation

On the way, My Lord, You came across women who wept for You. "Do not weep for me – You told them – weep instead for yourselves and for your children." You did not want easy tears that would change nothing. You wanted them to think about themselves and the world they would leave for the next generation, for the future.

We too wonder what our future will be like on this planet. We are witnessing the rampant consumption of the earth's resources, the extinction of species and the destruction of forests. We are frightened by climate change and feel deeply uncertain about the future. And all of this is tied to unbalanced lifestyles, where some die of hunger while others get sick from overeating.

Lord, teach us lifestyles of simplicity and solidarity. Teach us to be more aware of the consequences and closer to what truly matters. Teach us to be more like You.
